Ostrava Days accepts applications for residency for its Institute!
The Ostrava Days Institute is a working environment for composers, performers and musicologists, with a focus on compositions for orchestra. There are two resident orchestras: the 85-piece Ostrava New Orchestra (ONO), and the 35-piece Ostravská banda. Additionally, there are resident ensembles (string quartets), the Canticum Ostrava choir, and many soloists. The Ostrava Days Institute is linked with the Ostrava Days Festival, which presents compositions by students and lectors, as well as guest composers and historically significant composers such as Alvin Lucier, Julius Eastman, Morton Feldman, Alois Hába, Yves Klein, György Ligeti, Pauline Oliveros, Iannis Xenakis, and others. The OD Institute accepts around 35 resident-students to ensure one-on-one interactions among all participants. The working language is English.
