The World / No. 9

Publikováno: 24.6.2020

As of today's noon, we are launching the ninth video from The World series. Video and audio recordings by soloists and members of Ostravská banda (international chamber orchestra for contemporary music) are being made exclusively for OCNM. This week, we would like to present two soloists in four very diverse compositions. After that, a cellist Matthias Lorenz (DE) will perform compositions by Peter Ablinger and Klaus Lang, two composer very well-known to the Ostrava audience as they regularly visit the Ostrava Days Festival as the lectors of the attached Institute. Daniel Skála (CZ) will present one of the very few pieces written directly for the cimbalom (a rare instrument with roots in Hungary), written by Czech composer Alois Hába. He will accompany it with selection of pieces out of Játékok (Games), originally a piano cycle by György Kurtág. Program:

Peter Ablinger: Weiss/Weisslich 17k (1996, 2013)
Matthias Lorenz, Violoncello
Premiere, 2020

Klaus Lang: Music Is the Key (1999)
Matthias Lorenz, Violoncello
Premiere, 2020

Alois Hába: Suite for Cimbalom (1960)
Daniel Skála, Cimbalom

György Kurtág: Játékok (Games; 19732017) / selections from the cycle
