Matilda Sakamoto is a choreographer and dancer born and raised in Los Angeles, California. She has trained at Springboard Danse Montreal, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, LINES Ballet, and San Francisco Ballet School. Matilda received her BFA from Juilliard. While there, Matilda has performed original works by Kyle Abraham, Kate Weare, Brian Brooks, and Camille A. Brown. As well as repertory by Elliot Feld, José Limón, Ohad Naharin, Jiri Kylian, and Merce Cunningham. Matilda has also appeared in Fall for Dance 2014 and Kate Weares 10th anniversary at BAM Fisher. While at Juilliard, she choreographed and set numerous pieces on students as well as outside dance collectives. Matilda is also a visual artist and loves to meld these worlds together in her work.
