Marek Olbrzymek (tenor) graduated from Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno. Afterwards, he continued his education with early-music training at Staatliche Hochschule für Alte Musik in Trossingen, as well as regular participation in different projects by Académie baroque européenne d’Ambronay, France. His fondness for opera (especially the works of Leoš Janáček) also led to his collaboration with the prestigious Aix-en-Provence opera festival (The Cunning Little Vixen, 2002–2003). He regularly supplements his concert and opera performances not just with recording Leoš Janáček’s operas for the BBC, Czech Radio and Czech Television, but also with recording pieces by contemporary American composer Nancy Van de Vate for Vienna Modern Masters, including her operas Nemo and All Quiet on the Western Front. He has toured most European countries, as well as the US and Japan, and stars as a guest singer in opera productions at National Theater Brno and Moravian-Silesian Theater Ostrava. Starting with the 2014/2015 season, his interest in photography has also earned him the position of the official opera photographer at National Theater Brno.
