Soprano singer Claudia Barainsky studied in her hometown Berlin at the University of the Arts with Ingrid Figur, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau and Aribert Reimann and is internationally considered to be one of the most versatile singers whose extensive repertory covers all eras of music. In 2011 she was awarded the German Theatre Prize Der Faust as an outstanding interpreter and performer.
Barainsky guest performs worldwide on leading opera and concert stages and closely cooperates with conductors such as Vladimir Ashkenazy, Herbert Blomstedt, Zubin Mehta, or Sir Roger Norrington. She performed with numerous orchestras and ensembles, as a few to be mentionend: Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, Munich Philharmonic, Staatskapelle Dresden, BBC Orchestra London, Ensemble Intercontemporain or Klangforum Wien. Highlights of recent seasons include her interpretation of Maria Magdalena in the highly acclaimed premiere of Wunderzaichen by Mark Andre at the Staatstheater Stuttgart, her acclaimed role debut in Richard Strauss’ Daphne in Toulouse and her role debut as Saffi in The Gipsy Baron by Johann Strauss Jr. with NDR Radio Philharmonic and the NDR Choir under the baton of Lawrence Foster. Barainsky will take part in Ostrava Days 2019 as a soprano soloist in Morton Feldman’s „opera“ Neither; it will be her debut performance in this work.
