fama Q is a leading Czech ensemble for contemporary music. As regular guest artists at Prague concert cycles Přítomnost, Umělecká beseda and Krása dneška, they present compositions by contemporary composers – both classics of the avant-garde and the more traditional streams of 20th-century music (e.g. Schoenberg, Berg, Webern, Cage, Feldman, Kagel, Kurtág, Ligeti, Lutoslławski, Nono, Scelsi, Xenakis, etc.) and significant composers of today (e.g. Haas, Husa, Kopelent, Smolka, Srnka, Graham, Loudová, Pudlák, Zemek). The quartet has performed at festivals including Prague Spring, Contempuls, Ostrava Days, Israel Festival, Afyonkarahisar Klasik Muzik Festivali (Turkey), and at several concerts in Japan. The quartet regularly premiers new pieces by young Czech and international composers (e.g. Pelo, Ho, McMullin, Adámek, Kadeřábek, Pálka, Smejkalová, Trnka) and is equally at home in the traditional quartet literature (Haydn, Mozart, Dvořák, Janáček, Shostakovich, Martinů). The members of fama Q play in leading Czech orchestras and gladly accept invitations to various seminars and workshops focused on contemporary music performance (e.g. HAMU Prague, VŠMU Bratislava, Palacký University Olomouc).
