Ostrava Center for New Music
Ostrava Center for New Music was initiated by Petr Kotík in 2000 as a result of series of performances with the Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra of music by Earle Brown, John Cage, Alvin Lucier, Pauline Oliveros, Martin Smolka and Karlheinz Stockhausen. OCNM was formed to produce Ostrava Days, a summer institute and festival, which gives emerging composers, performers, and musicologists an opportunity to work with leading personalities of contemporary music. Ostrava Days is a working and learning environment focusing on compositions for orchestra. Ostrava Center for New Music also produces concerts and publications related to new music.
