WP = World Premiere

Composers often work closely with excellent performers to move instrumental and compositional possibilities forward together. At the second Ostravská banda concert, violinist Hana Kotková will team up with the prominent Austrian composer Bernhard Lang. For the first time at Ostrava Days, we will hear the work of Miya Masaoka, who lives in New York and teaches at Columbia University. Phill Niblock sends a dense work from his loft in lower Manhattan. Eight years ago, the idiosyncratic Czech composer Petr Bakla’s Piano Concert was one of the most discussed compositions of the festival. It will therefore be interesting to observe what reactions the premiere of his Piano Concert No. 2 will arouse. He wrote it for Miroslav Beinhauer and Ostravská banda.
