One of the most exciting aspects of experimental music is exploring and discovering new, unknown sound worlds. These tendencies go back to the first half of the twentieth century when Alois Hába and others were concerned with the wide-ranging possibilities of microtonal tuning. The first half of this evening can be viewed as a combination of Hába’s visionary thoughts with the works of contemporary composers. The connecting thread between the compositions presented will be the use of a unique sixth-tone harmonium, which will be played by the only living performer on this instrument, Miroslav Beinhauer.
