New Double Album Released: Petr Kotík – Many Many Women

A new double album featuring music by Petr Kotík – Many Many Women – has just been released! This iconic composition from 1975–78, inspired by a text by Gertrude Stein, is considered one of Kotík’s seminal works.
The new studio recording was made in Ostrava in 2022 by members of the New York-based S.E.M. Ensemble and Ostravská banda. It captures this extraordinary composition in a contemporary interpretive form – music that stands apart from trends and goes straight to the essence. Kyle Gann described the work as “a monument of the seventies,” while Christian Wolff called it “a masterpiece of the twentieth century.”
