Jen Baker, trombonist/composer has pioneered a widely diverse career based in redefining the role of trombone in contemporary music and traditional performance settings, accomplished through site specific pieces, choreography, and nontraditional performance techniques. Highlights include Merce Cunningham Dance Company’s final performance at Park Ave Armory, annual appearances with American Brass Quintet at the Guggenheim, and appearing on Good Morning America. As a performer, she has been hailed for her "formidable sensitivity” (New York Times) and “performed with brilliant mastery and virtuosity” (San Francisco Classical Voice) at festivals worldwide, including the International Trombone Festival, American Trombone Workshop, High Zero international festival of improvised music, ISIM Conference - International Society of Improvised Music, Adelaide Festival (Australia), Ostrava Days (Czech Republic), Ottawa ChamberFest (Canada), Edinburgh Fringe Festival (Scotland), Festival of Friendly Countries (Mexico), and Berlin’s Festival USA!. Aside from her solo career, she is also a composer and teacher.
