Jörg Widmann: Fantasie
"Ostravská banda and Ostrava Center for New Music is a world where nothing is impossible. I always look forward to go to Ostrava because it looks like that in Ostrava the day doesn’t have 24 hours but 35. I think that nowhere else than in Ostrava during this great festivals they organize i tis possible to play three rehearsals, two general rehearsals and two concerts which we all experience in the proces and during the concert series. But of course for me and I think also for other players and members of Ostravská banda it is a pure joy throughout the event. Of course, we have a fantastic background by all the people that organize this event and to be certain will organize the event for quite a long time, at least I hope. I think that they are not only organizing a great event but they are also teaching people, musicians and not musicians, to listen to new music of living composers. All the composers are in the place so it’s a big melting pot for contemporary music and I would say for contemporary life. Since there is Trojhalí / Triple Hall Karolina, I think that is the best place to be for the new music. So I am really happy to be able to contribute with a small solo recording which is Fantasie by Jörg Widmann who is a very good composer and an amazing clarinet player, so I hope you will all enjoy the piece which is as picturesque as all the events in Ostrava.
