Miro Tóth
Miroslav Tóth is a Slovak composer whose Quartet of Tentacles Reaching Out was presented by the Kronos Quartet at the Pohoda Festival in 2018. He then founded the Czech-Slovak Dystopic Requiem Quartet, with which he recorded Black Angels Songs, an album dedicated to the Holocaust in Slovakia. This became the most frequently performed Slovak string quartet of the present. In addition to instrumental music, Tóth has also created four one-act operas, three video operas, and the scores for several documentary and feature films. He is also active as a musician in groups that explore the intersections of alternative rock, free jazz, improvisation, and industrial music, such as Drť, Shibuya Motors, and Srnka. The performance of Tóth’s documentary opera Nulanus within NODO 2022 became unforgettable – staged on a ski slope in summer and featuring clones on the mountain hillsides of the Opálená resort near Čeladná in the Beskydy Mountains.
