Marek David
Marek David is a student of the Theatre Directing program at the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts in Brno. In his directorial work, he often uses novel theatrical approaches and possibilities of stage and actor stylization. His production Planu (I blaze), depicting the story of Ryszard Siwiec, a Polish clerk who set himself on fire at a National Stadium in Warsaw in a protest against the Russian invasion of Czechoslovakia, was awarded the Jantar Award for a small stage production of the year and was also nominated for the Mark Ravenhill Award. He collaborated with Jan Mikulášek on productions Don Quijote and Dictionary of the Khazars which were presented at the Goose on a String Theatre. In his graduation production Lidé bez vlastností (People without Qualities) he combined two novels of Robert Musil The Man without Qualities and The Confusions of Young Törless, creating a theatre mosaic of people searching for their identity with topics that seem more than relevant in the context of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
