Michal Wróblewski
Michal Wróblewski is a Czech composer, improviser and experimental musician who studied improvised music, jazz interpretation and saxophone in Oslo, Brno and Prague and has recently also spent six months at CalArts, California. At the moment, he is finishing his PhD in composition at the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts, Brno – in September, he is about to defend his thesis on perception of time in the process of improvisation. Wróblewski is active in E Converso, JWQ and Karm ensembles, for which he also writes music and performs with them on a regular basis. Moreover, he collaborates with improvisers from around the world, composes chamber music for different ensembles and performers, serves as the art director of Jazz Goes to Town international festival, curates the Hybrid Sessions concert series and is a co-founder and co-leader of both Ma Records music label and Ma Kolektiv experimental music collective.
