Kristýna Švihálková
Kristýna Švihálková (1997) studied percussion instruments at the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts and as part of the 5-year study program, she spent one-year at the California Institute of the Arts. During her studies, she played at the Brno Philharmonic, participated in the Hausopera projects, collaborated with Ensemble Opera Diversa, Czech Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra Pardubice, or with Harmonia Instrumentalis and performed as a soloist as part of the cycle of family concerts of Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra. Švihálková is also one of the tutors at workshops for schools and kindergartens of Brno Philharmonic. In the present, she is mainly engaged in original multimedia projects in the field of new music, she also deals with the issues of the genre théâtre musical (a topic she also explored in her MA thesis) and keeps on discovering the possibilities of the magical percussion instrument called steel drum. She was soloist in František Chaloupka’sorchestral piece Darwin Among The Machines, presented within Ostrava Days 2021.
