Jana Vondrů
Singer Jana Vondrů (1991) works across genre borders, with special focus on contemporary and experimental music. Her collaborations with Ensemble Opera Diversa include both concert and stage performances. She is a member of the group Dust in the Groove, which fuses contemporary music, jazz and improvisation, and is also active in the ConTRIOlogy trio. With multi-instrumentalist Tomáš Vtípil, in addition to various live projects, she has recorded vocals for different theater and radio plays. She is the driving force behind Microoperas, a project that transplants opera into public spaces. For solo concerts, she is mostly interested in 20th and 21st century songs. She graduated from the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts in Brno and the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. Her past collaborators include Brno Philharmonic and Brno Contemporary Orchestra. At the Slovak National Theatre’s Opera Studio, she has put on Grigory Frid’s mono-opera The Diary of Anne Frank and performed the titular role in Jozef Grešák’s opera Zuzanka Hraškovie. She performed Here Be Sirens by the US composer Kate Soper at New Music Exposition, Brno.
