Felix Heuser
Coming from a small village in the Southwest of Germany, the young baritone Felix Heuser has always had a passion for unknown music, whether it be contemporary or centuries old. During his vocal studies in Hamburg, Bremen and London he extensively explored the field of Early Music and had the chance to learn from renowned experts such as Emma Kirkby, Manfred Cordes and others. Heuser then moved to Graz (Austria), where he immersed himself in the world of contemporary music. The challenges and opportunities of this repertoire fascinate him, and he received a master’s degree in Performance Practice in Contemporary Music, studying with Holger Falk and Ulf Bästlein. Since then, collaborations with ensembles and composers such as the Klangforum Wien, Needcompany, Steffen Schleiermacher, Sarai Vangelli de Cresci, and others have taken him to festivals and venues including Steirischer Herbst (Austria), Kings Place (London) and Festspielhaus Erl. Last season, Heuser made his highly acclaimed debut at Theater an der Wien in Peter Eötvös’ Der goldene Drache and performed in Oscar Strasnoy’s a cappella opera Geschichte at the Oper Graz. This season, he returned to Graz for another opera of Peter Eötvös, Schlaflos, and will make his debut in Franz Lehár’s Die lustige Witwe at the Theater Bozen. This year will also be his second time in Ostrava, where he performed in Petr Kotík’s Many Many Women and Luigi Nono’s Prometeo in 2022 within the festival NODO.
