ONO Chamber Ensemble is a new, international chamber orchestra dedicated to the performance of contemporary music, the majority of which was composed in the 21st Century, as well as recent compositions that relate to present issues in new music. Founded in 2023 as a spin-off of the Ostrava New Orchestra (ONO), the chamber ensemble was established as a variable group designed for smaller-scale concerts and performances.
The members of the Ostrava New Orchestra are 20 young musicians (ages 21–35) from 7 European countries, students and graduates from leading conservatories and music schools across Europe (among them from Berlin, The Hague, Oslo, Prague, and Valencia). All members of the ONO Chamber Orchestra are fully dedicated to the performance of new and contemporary music. They are also members of the large symphony orchestra based in Ostrava – resident orchestra for the festivals Ostrava Days and the new opera festival NODO, two of the foremost European festivals dedicated to new music.
